Boom Festival Portugal
Not just a Festival, but a Lifestyle! The Boom Festival in Portugal
The Boom Festival takes place every two years in the district of Idanha-a-Nova in Portugal. The festival offers music, paintings, sculptures, video art, cinemas, installations, theatre performances and many more. Initially the festival was planned as a psytrance event, but then expanded continuously. Sound-wise world music is played, as well as live bands and electronic music, including dubstep, breakbeat and techno.
The Boom Festival considers itself as a "dazzling crystallization point of a neo-tribal culture" that want to inspire their visitors - the Boomer. The experience that can be perceived on this unique festival ranges from contemporary music, visionary art to intellectual-spiritual input. The Boom Festival wants to change the world-view. And the organizers invest a lot to can do so. The multicultural mix of boomers from about 116 countries around the world stimulates the visitor´s interculturality. Even the smallest - the children - can visit the intercultural festival kindergarten on the Boom - the Baby Boom. The scenery of the boom is designed around an Iberian tree landscape with a picturesque lake, on which the full moon is reflected during the festival. The lake has a sandy beach where you can take a break after sweaty trance dances. Furthermore, with the Liminal Village the Boom provides a place for lectures and panel discussions on the topics activism, psychedelia, free culture, mythology, ecology, dreamscapes, permaculture, trance, sacred plants and many more.
On the Boom there is a Boom-own psychedelic art museum in which talented painters exhibit their art works. On the whole site especially at night, but also during the day, installations are ablaze with light, which allow the usage of media such as painting, sculpture, land art or video.
A special emphasis is placed on the permaculture of the festival. The organizer´s environmentally approaches clearly state, that also major international gatherings of people can generate maximum respect for Mother Nature.
Moreover, spirituality is not too short. At the festival there is a healing area, on which alternative healing methods such as Yoga, Ayurveda, Tai Chi and more are applied and taught. There is not business for sponsors on the entire Boom Festival. The festival is entirely financed by ticket sales.
