Ji-Yeoun You was born in 1978 in Yeosu, South Korea. With five years she started to play the piano to stage her first coronation concert by Mozart already at the age of ten. Her academic career was coined musically as well. She attended the Yewon School in Seoul and already won significant national youth competitions there.
In 1995, the exceptional pianist moved to Berlin and started her studies under professor Laszlo Simon at the University of Arts, and later under professor Klaus Bäßler and Georg Sava at the University of Sound "Hanns Eisler". After having been awarded a grant for young artists she graduated her concert exam with distinction in 2005.
After having completed her studies she participated at numerous international competitions. She played for example at the International Chopin Competition in Göttingen, at the Konzerteum Competition in Athens or at the International Young Musicians Platform in Bromsgrove, which she won all. Nowadays she plays solo recitals in Berlin, Edinburgh, London, Paris and Seoul and she gives concerts with big symphony orchestras. Even as honorary citizen, the artist has recently been awarded: She was adored and appreciated for her achievements in music culture in her hometown.
