MoMA exhibits the most breathtaking and beautiful works of art in the world. From Van Gogh`s "Starry Night" to Monet`s "Water Lillies". There is a number of permanent exhibitions. Nevertheless, you also can indulge in touring exhibitions of impressive artists. Here is our pre-selection of the best MoMA highlights for autumn 2016.
In the Fourth room of Painting and Sculpture, MoMA opened the exclusive gallery "From the Collection: 1960-1969" with highlights from the art of the 60s. The gallery aligned chronologically and shows the fascinating spectrum of an exciting decade of modern art. You can attend this collection until March 2017.
The major exhibition of Bruce Conner offered a different perspective onto the second half of the 20th century till October 2nd: "It`s All True". There are around 250 objects from the post-war American artist. From films and video recordings to painting and photography - the exhibition presents a comprehensive retrospective of Bruce Connor.
This fall, three new exhibitions will open at MoMA. From 18th September 2016 to 22nd January 2017, the German artist Kai Althoff will celebrate his retrospective with 200 works of contemporary art. As of October 1st, there is a new exhibition named "How Should We Live? Propositions for the Modern Interior" in the Architecture and Design Gallery of the museum. The artworks include specific interior designs from the 1920s to the 1950s. They examine cooperation, materials and processes whereby the modern interior design was coined. The third new exhibition is called "The Shape of Things" and highlights photographs by Robert B. Menschel. He tells the history of photography from its beginnings.
Of course, there is a variety of installations and multimedia works of various artist this fall. Since September 23rd, visitors can admire the Project 104 of Nástio Mosquito, which consists of a live performance, a video installation and interventions shown on the existing MoMA displays, the lobby screens and throughout social media. Furthermore, visitors can see the Nan Goldin´s "Ballad of Sexual Dependency" until February 12th 2017. She constructs 700 photos and a musical soundtrack out of her personal stories.
Therefore, there is a lot going on at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. It is worth a visit!
