A Town is turned upside down - The Sonar Festival in Barcelona
It is one of the most prestigious festivals of electronic music and multimedia art - the Sonar Festival in Barcelona. Three days and three nights an entire city goes wild. With about 80,000 visitors every year, it is also one of the largest festivals in the world. Since 1997 the Sonar Festival attracts party animals and media enthusiasts from all around the world.
Every year artists present their latest productions in the field of electronic music and multimedia art. More than 50 happenings take place over the event whereat regarding the entertainment aspect it has great importance to offer in particular an experimental and varied program. Here, the festival since 2013 thematically and spatially divides the events into two segments, for day and for night events.
The creative and innovative events take place in and around the exhibition centre at Montjuic, whereas the great artists and the larger shows proceed at the Grand Via from L`Hospitalet de Llobregat.
Not only established artists have the opportunity to present their art at the Sonar Festival. Also emerging talent are to be promoted and partly play for the first time on massive stages in front of a huge audience. Sonar stands for the connection in between creativity and technology.
The 22nd Sonar Festival took place from June, 18th to 20th, 2015.
