A Home for impressive Creations - Yves Saint Laurent Museum in Paris opened
It is already 50 years ago when Yves Saint Laurent created his "Le Smoking" trousers suit for women in Paris. This emancipatory gesture made the fashion designer world-famous. A museum just opened now in memory of the designer in Paris in the Avenue Marceau.
Curator and collection director Aurélie Samuel met Pierre Bergé some time ago, the longtime partner of Yves Saint Laurent. It was about the issue fashion. The idea of the art historian to dedicate a memory to Yves Saint Laurent with a museum in Paris and in Marrakech made the businessman Bergé think. He agreed.
Bergé died on September 8th 2017. And so, France's Minister of Culture Françoise Nyssen opened the new museum in Paris for small group of people. Nevertheless, there was a VIP party, because the fashion week is currently taking place in Paris. On this, designer Anthony Vaccarello presented the Saint Laurent Haute Couture collection for spring/summer 2018.
The museum was the home of the label located between Avenue Eiffel and Champs-Elysées from 1974 to 2008, with the studio of the modem maker. A part of the house was rebuild to its original state for the museum. The designer's office for example, all the furniture is in its original place - his horn-rimmed glasses are even on his desk.
The history of fashion can be traced back in the new museum alongside 35,000 artworks. There are about 7,000 graceful haute couture models among them these artworks.
In mid-October, another Yves Saint Laurent Museum opens in Marrakech. Approximately 300 models and 1,000 objects will be exhibited in a new building over approximately 4,000 square meter. In the Moroccan city, the designer had one of his magnificent residences.
